Examples & Ideas Winter Dance Party Tour For a serious Buddy Holly fan, John Mueller’s recreation of the original Winter Dance Party Tour is an amazing time machine ride. Sixty year old fans become teenagers again. John Mueller, Ray Anthony and J.P. Richardson, Jr. don’t just look and sound like three guys who died in 1959, they ARE Buddy Holly, Richie Valen, and the Big Bopper. This autographed tour poster is far too important to its owner than to house it in a black poster frame. What better way to show it off than by putting the musicians on stage? This frame is entirely scratch built. Wood components were milled from raw lumber – right down to the stage floor. The curtains were made just for this project. Painting techniques, while on a miniature scale, are the same as those used by the guys sent to the theater to paint the walls and trim. The only components from the framing world are the museum glass, framer’s points, wall buddies, and backing paper. Michael’s probably won’t suggest a design like this.
